
Sam Nicholson
Choir Manager
Sam has been the Choir Manager of Auckland Youth Choir since 2020. He has sung in the Bass section since 2019 and toured Sydney with the Chamber Singers in his first year in the choir. As Choir Manager, Sam is responsible for secretarial duties, financial administration, fundraising, concert management, and marketing and publicity including website and social media. He is also a member of the choir's governance committee.

​In 2023, Sam completed a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Politics at the University of Auckland. He is currently working as a Judges' Clerk at the Auckland High Court.

Sam sings in the New Zealand Youth Choir and Auckland Chamber Choir, and plays clarinet in and sits on the management committee of West City Concert Band. In 2023, he was appointed as the Oceania representative on the inaugural YOUNG Youth Committee of the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM). In 2025, Sam was elected to the Governance Board of the New Zealand Choral Federation.
Sam taught ukulele and clarinet at Mid-Bays Music School from 2016–2023 and was the music school's Assistant Director from 2022–2023. Prior to joining AYC, Sam sung in Choralation and Voicemale choirs at Westlake Boys' High School from 2014–2018.​
